I just finished my first session
of Fitness for Living Bootcamp and can't wait to sign up for the next
session.
Not having really exercised with much direction, I was
definitely intimidated attending my first class. Coming from my
disorganized method of working out, imagine walking onto the open field
at Scott Carpenter Park, up to the instructor who is incredibly toned
and fit. Incredibly. Toned. And fit.
I nearly turned around and
walked away.
Thankfully I didn't. Throughout our 5 weeks together
I came to look forward to my 6 AM. self-inflicted "torture"; I become
acquainted with my classmates who were a diverse bunch and the most fun
people you could hope to meet (which made each hour fly by); and I was
consistently challenged by the exercises and circuits our instructor
Terri planned for us, all the while having an absolute blast.
As
others have mentioned, anyone can sign up and participate in this class -
all ages and body types.
Additional good things about Fitness
for Living: emails and communication that were sent to us throughout the
session with helpful tips and information; the flexibility (if we
missed a class we were able to make it up with a different class); and
the openness to share the Bootcamp experience with others through their
"Bring a Friend" days and their special Saturday workouts.
My
only complaint? I wish the sessions were longer than 5 weeks. By the
time we were finished, it seemed like as a class we were just hitting
our stride. It was sad to see everyone part ways.
Verdict: If you
are looking for a workout experience that will challenge you - even if
you are at an advanced level of fitness - this is the place for you.
I love FITLIVE bootcamp.
I've done about 6 sessions over the last few years and all of the
instructors are all great. It's an awesome way to have consistency
and to push yourselves. Unlike most athletic endeavors in
Boulder, you don't have to be an ultra-marathoner to participate in boot
camp. There are people of all fitness levels in every class.
I've been in sessions with 30 year old marathoners and 55 year
dudes who haven't exercised in years in my classes. You just go at
your own pace. Everyone is supportive and you can always find a
buddy at your level who can push you.
Sometimes I feel
like I am filming some cheesy exercise video because I am lifting
weights while staring at Chautauqua. I can definitely handle that
kind of cheese. Exercising outdoors seems a lot less like
exercise.
Boot camp is great and so fun to
be outdoors with great views of the mountains. Wonderfully
diverse classes so you never get bored and seem to be working on all
parts of the body as the sessions progress. Terry is great,
motivating, fun and really knows how to move you forward if you really
want that. Thumbs up for a great experience!
And lots of email
newsy tips for keeping yourself on track. Big bang for your buck
all around! Go for it!

Signing up for boot camp was the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. It's NOT easy but you see the changes in yourself pretty quickly. The Trainer in Lafayette, Linzee, is amazing!! She pushes you but not in the obnoxious drill sargeant way. I was NEVER able to run more than a few feet without stopping and now I am able to run over a mile without stopping...sounds like nothing to most people but to me it's monumental. Thank you Fitness for Living!
