Fast Foods - How to Make Wiser Choices?

Now that summer have arrived many of us are busier than ever.
For many of us that means less time cooking at home and more eating fast food.
Not all fast foods are created equal and often the ‘better' choices are deceivingly not all that healthy. Many of the items are very high in fat and some have incredibly high sodium contents. There are plenty of sandwiches out there that have ½ of the daily requirement of sodium – in 1 sandwich!
But of course there are some healthier choices than others. And this is the point of this article – to help you make better decisions when you do need to pop in to a Wendy's, McDonalds, Subway and the like.
I have provided links to a website that has TONS of information for you and it is quite handy if there is a particular fast food restaurant that you go to as it will list many of your choices there. Just look for the item that you typically order and it will display the nutritional facts just like a nutrition label on a box of cereal.
Nutritional Label by Menu Item
If you are curious what might be better choices for you at your favorite fast food this webpage will let you sort the menu items by any topic you like: Calories, % fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, etc. Make sure to click on their "macro - eyepiece" as it will show you the information in an easy to read graph.
Menu Items Sorted by Topic
Finally, the coolest webpage is one in which you can build your own complete meal and have it create a 'compiled' nutritional label for it. For instance you can choose a turkey sub, salad, and a drink and it will calculate the total nutritional information for your meal.
Combo Meal Builder
This site is of course something that you would need to use sitting at home. But if you do often go to one or two fast foods and you are curious what would be good for you to eat there then this is a great site.
Most importantly is to get into a habit of making better choices, becoming conscious of what you are eating [not just eating to eat], and having information EASILY available to you to make better choices.

What Do Our Campers Have to Say

Our Boot Campers are amazing people and we love them. The following are just a few comments from our April camp session.
My clothes are looser and after the second week, my energy level has increased. Also, I saw great improvements in my physical level through the assessments that we did.
Kim S
I have ABSOLUTELY seen changes through camp. I have more strength, my muscles are toned, I have more energy, I have a more positive attitude throughout the day, and my clothes are getting too big!
Melissa F
I am 56 years old and today I finished RUNNING (not walking with my wave) the Bolder Boulder in under 75 minutes, which is pretty darn good for somebody who hadn't run at all for the last five years. Just eight short weeks ago, when I began Boot Camp, I struggled to run a mile, but through persistence and the excellent guidance of Jen, I kept at it and had absolutely no trouble finishing this 10k at an even pace of 12 minutes per mile. I felt really good after the race and walked another 2 miles back to my car. If I remain in Boot Camp for the next year, I will probably be running marathons without any trouble. I am so happy that I am a Boot Camper
Kathryn S. Keller
I was really impressed with how our trainers made the class useful for a very wide range of fitness levels. My favorite part was there was no wasted time. We were always moving and no standing around.
Keri O.
I lost 10 pounds in boot camp. I have more energy once I get going. I want to continue working out.
Cindy Y
I liked the "peer pressure" aspect. I tend to exercise by myself and I found that, in Boot Camp, I was more likely to push myself harder than I might have otherwise done. Also, it was really inspiring to see all the other participants pushing themselves, too.
Tamera B .
Boot Camp is a fun supportive environment and at the same time a killer work-out. My cardio improved drastically and I just finished my first 10K Bolder Boulder !
