Book It!
Your Daily Planner - The Secret Tool to Healthy Eating

It happens all the time: We want to get together with a friend, so we call ahead, set a date and book it in our planners. Ditto if we need to work through a problem with the boss or block out time to complete a big project. Don’t ask me how it works, but plopping something down in a planner has a way of making sure that particular something happens.

Happily, the miraculous effects of a planner can be used to make sure our eating ideals happen, too. While you’re waking up in bed, washing your face or having your first cup of coffee, you’re likely engaged in a mental conversation about the day ahead and what needs to be done. Simply add food to the conversation, like this:

  • “Hmmm. I’ve got Boot Camp this morning. While I’m getting dressed, I could boil a couple eggs for some fast protein after my workout.”
  • “I’ve got some leftover salad from dinner. What if I top it with walnuts, apples and leftover brown rice for a great lunch?”
  • “The hummus I bought last week is going to go bad. What if I pack it for a snack with some cucumbers and whole wheat crackers?”
Now the next step: write ‘em down. While a planner or calendar is a perfect place to write down your eating plans, a to-do list, telephone message pad or back of an envelope works just as well. This step takes a little discipline, but it is absolutely vital. Here’s why: Because good eating intentions can vanish at the mere whiff of a donut! Writing them down, particularly in a planner with all your other to-dos, is the way to make them stick—and happen.

 Free Fun-Fit Road Bike Rides
Two 'no drop' rides, two ride leaders, two groups - one beginner & one intermediate

Each month we invite you to come out and join us for one of our free Fun-Fit Adventures.

Our Fun-Fit Adventures are open to everyone – whether you are participating in our Boot Camps or not. There is no cost but pre-registration is required.

This month we are going to roll out the road bikes and explore some of the beautiful and quiet roads of Boulder county.

This Fun-Fit is run in cooperation with Flatirons Athletic Club and is geared for both the beginner and the intermediate cyclist. We have two rides scheduled and on each ride we will have two ride leaders. Our plan is to have both a beginner ride (averaging a speed of 12-15 mph) and an intermediate ride (averaging 15-18 mph). David Clair, Director of Fitness For Living, will be one of the ride leaders.

Friday, June 12.   5:30 - 7:00 pm
Ride to Niwot. Rolling hills. 20-25 miles.

Saturday, June 20.   8:00 - 10:00 am
Morgul Bismark Loop (Marshall Rd, McCaslin, Hwy 93 loop)
Long and fairly steep climbs. 25-35 miles

So come on – don't be shy and don't let some LAME excuse get in the way of you getting outside, meeting others and getting in some heart pumping fun.

What Do Our Campers Have to Say

Our Boot Campers are amazing people and we love them.  It is their spirit, energy and dedication that makes Boot Camp the success that it is.  We are proud to share some of their recent comments.

"I just can't express my appreciation for the classes. I have been attending two weeks and already I feel great and my clothes are starting to fit better. I think Jenn is a great instructor and the class make up is wonderful. From marathoners to couch potatoes, we have a great group that supports each other throughout each session. THANK YOU"
Nancy

I have experienced amazing results through boot camp & am a big "evangelist" of the program.  I've lost close to 30 pounds, gone down at least a size, and am in the best shape of my life at 40.  I've also lost quite a few inches (need to measure again!) and fat percentage points. I have developed good relations with Jenn and other folks in boot camp.  If I miss a class, they know it and are concerned.  We laugh together and can push each other to a new level.
Liz L

"I really want to take this time to say how great a trainer Linzee is! I am in my 2nd session and plan on doing this the whole summer mostly because of her. Other trainers or coaches I've had in the past cannot compare to Linzee. She pushes each one of us to work past the point we would have given up on our own. Plus she is funny which also makes Boot Camp more enjoyable!! "

"I've done other boot camps and this is definitely better. Jenn does a great job motivating everyone without being too "pushy". And, I feel stronger and overall more fit in such a short period of time. " Lindsey T, Oct 2008

"I plan to keep taking classes until you don't offer them anymore.  They have changed my life, my body and my lifestyle.  I am very grateful.  This class has done more for my body than all of the sports I have played in the past so I am not quitting anytime soon."
Jan M

"I've never done something so wonderfully organized as this boot camp. It's great not to have to think about anything except to follow instructions and know that the instructor has appropriately planned out the entire workout."

“I have noticed changes - my clothes are all too big, my endurance is greater, and I have tons of energy. It was much harder than other fitness classes I've taken, but in a good way. I used muscles I haven't used in a LONG time.”
Melissa A

"Jenn is fabulous. I'm not fit, at all, and she is so encouraging and positive. She seems to balance well the variety of fitness levels in the course so that everyone is being pushed."
Martha L, Oct 2008

“Yes, I feel stronger, leaner, more confident about what I can do. I used to think running 3 miles was so hard. I now run a 6-mile loop at least once a week and feel that it is an easy day. I think it has really affected my mental attitude about what I can do and how hard I can push myself.”
